Same-day emergency appointments:

A toothache cannot wait! We will see you today! Let us take care of you!

On-call emergency services:

Not all emergencies occur during business hours! Dr. Simpson provides after hours emergency care. Established patients can contact Dr. Simpson at the emergency number provided by our after hours answering service.

Laughing Gas! We have an answer to take the pain out of the dental experience. We offer “laughing gas” (Nitrous Oxide) to alleviate tension and the fear of receiving the shots necessary to control discomfort during a dental procedure. Nitrous Oxide has a quick onset and is quickly and easily breathed off after the procedure. There are no side effects and the patient is able to drive home safely after treatment with the gas.

We can also compliment the gas with oral conscious sedation. Mild anxiolytics are prescribed for those that have severe anxieties. It is mandatory to have someone with you so that you are transported safely home if this is part of your treatment modality.

We treat children! Baby teeth should be cleaned as soon as they erupt. Clean your baby’s teeth with a soft washcloth or gauze after every bottle or meal. When more than one tooth erupts, you can soak a small bristled child-sized (age-appropriate) toothbrush in warm water before using it on your baby’s teeth.

Baby teeth should be brushed using a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. Use water without fluoride until approximately six months of age. Encourage your children to brush their teeth independently in the morning but assist them at night right before bed to insure a thorough cleaning is received one tome per day.

The first dental visit should be at age two to establish a long-term dental hygiene and professional dental cleaning plan. At this visit, dental sealant application may be applied to protect teeth from decay and are appropriate as soon as a tooth erupts.

We work to create a comfortable treatment experience for the child by allowing parents to accompany them into the treatment room as well as using the laughing gas if needed. We will help build their confidence with good experiences in the most formative years that will allow them to build good dental habits for a life time.

Routine Care:

We help you keep your mouth healthy!

First, to perform a thorough examination, x-rays must be taken. This involves the use of a digital device called a sensor that is plugged right into the computer. This method will enable the dentist a hygienist to “peer’ in between the teeth to detect cavities or tartar that can’t be seen clinically. X-rays are also useful in detecting bone-loss, infection, and tooth development. X-rays are usually recommended once yearly or if a need arises.

Along with x-rays, a clinical evaluation of your teeth is performed. Any treatment needs are listed and options to meet your dental needs are given. This really gives you a clear picture of your oral status and how you want to proceed with your present need.

Sealants are often placed on the biting surfaces of a child’s or teenagers back teeth. These areas of non-restored tooth surface are sealed by placing a light cured plastic resin. This liquid resin is applied to a cleaned surface and light –cured to harden. This will help protect the biting surfaces of the back teeth against cavities.

Basic Cleaning:

During your visit, it may be recommended that a basic cleaning may only be necessary to maintain optimal oral health. This is performed by removing light stain, plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth. This is called light scaling. After the scaling is completed a thorough polish is performed for the final shine! Lastly, homecare instructions; involving brushing and flossing techniques, are reviewed. Normally a 6 month recall visit is appointed.

Deep Cleaning:

It may be necessary for a more invasive cleaning treatment called a ‘debridement’ or a deep cleaning. This type of “cleaning treatment could require 2 or more visits. Usually, this diagnosis is determined during initial examination in which progressive gingivitis or periodontal disease is involved.

debridement involves the initial removal of heavy calculus deposits (hardened plaque) above the gum-line. A second appointment is necessary for a ‘finer-scale’ of remaining deposits on the teeth, followed by a thorough polish.

deep cleaning diagnosis is primarily dependant on the status of periodontal disease. Bone-loss can involve pockets around the tooth roots which carry infection. This is caused by tartar under the gum surface detected by careful examination and xrays. Cleaning portions of the mouth at a time is necessary due to the need of local anesthetic for patient comfort. Periodontal disease is the #1 reason for tooth loss and could compromise overall health.

Routine care to replace and repair teeth that have been effected by decay. Tooth colored fillings not only look good but they are also a very durable option. Tooth colored fillings are a cost saving option when trying to eliminate gaps in front teeth. This tooth matching material is also excellent in bonding to teeth and preventing leakage underneath fillings.

Other options of fixing teeth include placing crowns and bridges. This is done when a large amount of the tooth is removed due to existing cavities. The larger the cavity the weaker the remaining tooth structure causing needed reinforcement. A crown caps the tooth and protects the tooth from splitting.

Bridges span from one tooth to another, replacing a currently missing tooth. Bridges involve shaping the two teeth on which the bridge is made to fit.

Pain Free Root Canals! If the goal is to save an infected tooth, this may be one tooth-saving option. Saving teeth prevents future bone loss, drifting of teeth, future crowding of permanent teeth, and even future tooth loss.

Oral Surgery:

We remove wisdom teeth both impacted and non-impacted! If you have teeth that are broken and non-restorable, there is infection in your mouth. With or without pain that infection is contaminating our blood stream and stressing our body. We will help remove the source of infection and start you on a path of dental and whole body well-being.

New age tooth replacement! Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, that are placed into the jawbone in order to anchor tooth replacements. A single implant may be used to anchor a crown, serving as a single tooth replacement.

Traditional tooth replacement Are you replacing multiple teeth? If implants are not an option then partial or full dentures may be a wonderful fit for you. With a denture, we can make a smile in a very short amount of time. We can extract existing teeth and immediately place a new smile so that you do not walk around with a broken smile.

Are your current dentures loose? We can support dentures with implants and you will be able to chew again!
